Not only can employees approach the leadership team with ideas, but many companies now encourage their employees to provide feedback through surveys and other avenues. This makes the company a more collaborative environment for both the employees and leadership team alike.

Similar to creating a more collaborative environment, leaders are now finding it beneficial to remain transparent with everyone in the company. From c-suite executives down to the newest employees, companies are working to be more forward about their policies. This can not only improve productivity among the employees, but it creates an open and honest environment when workers feel comfortable voicing any concerns.

Similar to the move away from authoritative leadership, leaders in companies around the country have shifted their strategy when interacting with employees. Leaders are trying to avoid directing and managing employees and focusing more on encouraging and inspiring an employee to be the best that they can be in their respective roles. Like the move away from authoritative leadership, this strategy aims for positive reinforcement and inspiration. In most instances, this can help an employee reach their potential without feeling overwhelmed. Fostering talent can also lead to improved tenure and contributions to a company.

The Ability to Make Quick Decisions

In the past, leaders could often take time to understand an issue that the company faces. However, advances in technology combined with more competition forces leaders to make quick decisions. If a leader does not have the ability to make these choices when faced with a dilemma, it could have an adverse effect on the company. If they don’t adapt, their competitors will. This also means that a leader today will need to be comfortable making a decision without having all of the information they may need. While it can be intimidating to do this without all of the statistics, it has become incredibly important as a result of today’s fast-moving society.
